Cabo De Rama
Cabo De Rama's Old Portuguese fort lies on the road from Agonda to Betul. It is named as Cape Rama after the Hindu epic - Ramayana hero and it is believed that he had lived here with his beloved wife Sitamata in their exile period.
The cape was noticeable place for those who like fort and whose interests might be threatened from the sea. In the year 1763, in the beginning pre-date the Portuguese entered here and captured the fort. Afterwards they also used this place as a jail. This fort offers many eye-catching views of the countryside nearby as well as of the sunsets.
Arvalem Caves
Arvalem caves are the celebrated caves of Arvalem and these caves belongs to the remote era. The caves are in a nearby distance form the temple of Rudreshwar and in the westerly direction. This is also a place of an archaeological interest.
At a distance of 2 kilometer on the east side of Sanguelim and on a turn to south, this small and famous caves, now well-known for the waterfalls over here as well as the small Buddhist cave temples. Then it latter changed for Shiva worship and the altars, which almost certainly at first maintain Buddha images now holding the Shiva lingas set into them.
These caves are supposed to be dated since of the 3rd to 6th centuries AD, although the Brahmi inscription found there was actually dated as from the 1st century. A legendary background is also come along with these caves. Some myths are of the orientation that the caves have been carved by the travelling Buddhist monks. An inscription is noticed on a Shivalinga with a circular top in cave number two and it is written with the characters of the 7th century AD in Sanskrit and in Brahmi. This carving says 'Sambalura-Vasi Ravih'.
Cotigao
Cotigao is a wildlife sanctuary in Goa. It is the second largest in whole Goa and Cotigao is at a distance of 60 kilometer on the Southern side of Panaji city, and at a distance of 3 kilometer off the national highway number 17. It is of area 105 square kilometer and come under the most densely forested areas in this state.
It has a huge range of mammals, reptiles as well as birds. There is a treetop watchtower located in the forests but still the animals manage to remain finely out of sight of tourists.
Bondla
In Bondla ther is one more wildlife sanctuary in Goa. It is of area nearly 80 square kilometer. Bondla is the place located in the abundant, green foothills of the Western Ghats. This is the smallest Goan wildlife sanctuaries, as it is only 8 square kilometer in area.
It is at a distance of 52 kilometer from Panaji city and also located at a distance of 38 kilometer from Margao. One can see the botanical garden as well as a rose garden, a zoo with a fenced Deer Park inside the same building. Fauna in the wild here contain Wild Boar.
Sambar, monkeys, Gaur means a Indian Bison and a small number of migratory elephants, which walk in from Karnataka in the summer season are also seen here. This is the smallest in all Goa's wildlife sanctuaries. It is open in the mid-September to mid-June period and closed on Thursday.
